Fees and Prices:
Academic Year 2019-2020.
At Le Loft, we believe that private tuition should be affordable. We
believe that transparency inspires trust, so we are open and honest
about our fees. We put great effort into keeping our costs down: we are
trying to make a living, not a killing. We enjoy our work here, and this
enjoyment makes up a large part of our rewards. We believe that the key
to success for both us and our students is not only to be found in the
quality of contact, but also and critically, the frequency and
regularity of that contact. Our pricing strategy and our terms and conditions reflect these strongly
held beliefs. A summary sheet can be downloaded by clicking the graphic on the right.
Block Booking
An initial 1hr lesson at the standalone rate, currently £33, is our starting point. This lesson being satisfactory, the booking can be converted into one of the discounted 'block' booking schemes.
(i) The 'Single Block' (25% discount: £24.75 ph). Topping the initial £33 up by £66 (to a total of £99) for a further 3 x 1hr tuitions to create a 'Single Block' of 4 x 1hr tuitions. Although we normally conduct tuition on a longer term basis, we recognize that situations sometimes arise that require prompt or limited responses. We also offer the 'single block' scheme for experimental workshops.
(ii) The '13 for 12' scheme (30.77% discount: £22.85 ph). There are 13 weeks in a quarter but only 3 calendar months. Under the '13 for 12' scheme we discount the 13th week that arises in the course of any 3 consecutive months, thus providing a total of 13 tuitions for the price of 3 single blocks. In addition to the extra discount, it allows students to incorporate a regular time slot into an increasingly busy timetable. This is our most popular option.
(iii) The '10 for 9' scheme (32.5% discount: £22.28 ph). This scheme is most favoured by students in their 'exam' year. 10 blocks (40 tuitions) are scheduled over the academic year; the 10th block is discounted and can be taken anytime during the 9th month, thus doubling tuitions for when they are most needed, usually in the immediate pre-exam and final revision period. Because this scheme reflects the pattern of the school year, it is also very suitable for home-educated students who may have friends or siblings at school.
Shared Tuition
A second way to reduce costs is
to team up with another student and share the costs of tuition. A two-to-one lesson is priced at 1.5 times the one-to-one rate, i.e. the rate for the second student is discounted by 50%. Small groups are
arranged and priced as follows: groups of 3-4 and 5-6 are charged at 2 and 2.5 times the applicable one-to-one rate respectively. Please enquire for more information on how this scheme is operated.
Laboratory Skills
Experimental work is arranged and priced on an individual basis. The costs of providing the laboratory facilities are significant; we can only offer laboratory instruction to long-term students. Please enquire if you are interested in enrolling. We have found that a 3-hour slot is necessary for some of the more advanced protocols, whereas weekly 2-hour slots tend to be more productive for the younger students.
